UKATA Approved Non-Licensable Works with ACMs Refresher In House

Non-Licensable Works Refreshers (INCLUDING NNLW)

Employers should identify the specific training needs of their employees so that the refresher training can be appropriately tailored to the work being done. It should reflect the level of competence and specific training needs of the individual involved and should not be a repeat of the initial information, instruction and training.

Refresher training for non-licensable works should be appropriate to the work the individual is doing. It should be based on a TNA which will inform the type of training needed. For example, for those with extensive training needs, refresher training will involve classroom teaching and practical training where it is identified to be necessary.

Refresher training for non-licensable work should be given EVERY YEAR or more frequently work methods change, the type of equipment used to control exposure changes, the type of work carried out changes significantly; or gaps in competency are identified. It should include reviewing where things have gone wrong and sharing good practice. Where training needs dictate, refresher training should include an appropriate element of practical training, particularly covering decontamination procedures, use of RPE, FFT and controlled removal techniques as described in L143 Managing and working with Asbestos.

Refresher training for all non-licensed refresher has an expected duration of ½ day or a minimum of 3 learning hours.
